Digital media has become an integral part of my daily life—not only in my roles as a marketing student and associate pastor but also as an individual committed to fostering hope and encouragement in a society that urgently needs these virtues. Each day, I engage with various digital platforms that facilitate my spiritual grounding, enable connections with others, and support the church that my husband and I established in Colorado. This multifaceted usage of digital media underscores its significance in contemporary life and ministry.

Starting the Day with Purpose
Every morning begins with the use of the Bible App, through which I engage with my daily devotionals and seek wisdom derived from Scripture. Following this practice, I customarily share a selected scripture verse on social media platforms. In an era frequently characterized by negativity, it is imperative to embody a beacon of light by disseminating messages that uplift, inspire, and direct others toward Christ. Approximately three to four times per week, I extend this initiative by posting reflective commentary on the chosen verse—this may include personal anecdotes, experiences, or insights that I feel have been imparted to me by the Lord. The responses I receive are predominantly positive, leading me to recognize that encouraging online has effectively evolved into a facet of my digital ministry.
As noted by Zahay (2022), the foundation of successful social media marketing lies in value-driven content that satisfies the needs of its audience. While I may not explicitly categorize my efforts as “marketing,” it is evident that these posts fulfill that role; they convey messages of hope, foster trust, and enhance engagement with my audience.
Behind the Scenes at Church
Throughout the week, I also engage with digital media behind the scenes for our church. Some of the platforms I use regularly include:
- SubSplash – Our church app and website platform. I use this to update event pages, post sermon content, and ensure our information is fresh and relevant.
- Renewed Vision – This software powers our ProPresenter slides, which enhance the visual experience during worship services.
- CCLI – A vital tool for licensing worship music and accessing song lyrics and charts legally and ethically.
The implementation of these tools has significantly enhanced the quality of our worship experience and facilitated more efficient communication across various ministry domains. As observed by ProsperPath (2024), the effective utilization of digital platforms not only enhances outreach but also fosters stronger relationships with communities—a phenomenon that aligns with our church’s ongoing growth both locally and in the digital sphere.
Digital Media and Marketing Today
From an academic perspective, the advent of digital media has fundamentally altered the marketing landscape within ministry contexts. It transcends traditional advertising methodologies, shifting the focus towards fostering connection and facilitating dialogue. In contemporary practice, churches are equipped to engage with a global audience through various digital platforms, including livestreams, social media posts, and podcasts. The dissemination of the Gospel is no longer restricted to physical pulpits; it now reaches individuals worldwide via mobile devices and digital audio systems.
As articulated in “The Power of Personal Branding in the Digital Age,” platforms such as social media enable individuals and organizations to cultivate trust, enhance influence, and nurture community in unprecedented ways. Moreover, the accessibility of digital Christian content represents a significant advancement in the availability of theological resources. I engage with sermons and teachings from pastors across the globe, an opportunity that was considerably limited merely a decade ago. This increased accessibility is empowering believers, fortifying congregations, and amplifying diverse voices of faith across various cultural and regional contexts.

Through actions such as sharing scriptural insights, updating our organizational website, and consuming sermons from other clergy, I actively contribute to a global discourse on themes of truth, faith, and encouragement. In an increasingly cacophonous digital landscape, I appreciate the opportunity to leverage these technological tools to enhance and disseminate messages of hope.
